Tired of seeing one of your tires always deflated in winter?

Tired of seeing one of your tires always deflated in winter?

With nitrogen in your tires, no more worries about temperature gap having an impact on your tires!

When buying or installing tires, you always hesitate when someone asks you the famous question: would you like to have nitrogen inflation in your tires?... Difficult choice you may say!

Let's take a look!

The benefits of nitrogen

  • As an inert gas free of dust, oil and moisture, nitrogen provides several benefits to the driver.
  • Improves your performance on the road with stable tire pressure. The tire tends to deflate 3 times less quickly than a tire inflated with air.
  • Unaffected by wide temperature gap in winter from -10 to -30 degrees, which has no impact on tire pressure loss.
  • Reduces tire wear
  • Reduces fuel consumption
  • Nitrogen-filled tire rims are better protected against rust
  • Minimizes the risk of bursting due to overheating in tires
  • The aviation, trucking and racing industries have been using nitrogen for many years, it's a sign of efficiency!

    The disadvantages of nitrogen

    • If one of your tires deflates, you have to go back to your garage. You can't re-inflate a tire with compressed air from a gas station.
    • Make sure your garage uses a minimum of 95% nitrogen, otherwise it won't be effective.
    • There is an additional charge for adding nitrogen to your tires, which costs between $4 and $6 per tire. At Tire Direct, it costs $4 per tire.

How to know if a tire is inflated with nitrogen?

    • The presence of a green valve between the tire and the rim.
    • If not, the other way is to have the tire checked at the garage using special reading instruments.

Nitrogen is a very good option. Even though its remains more stable with a wide temperature gap in winter, don’t forget to check your tire pressure regularly, just like with compressed air tires.

    WARNING
A pressure drop can always occur when you drive over a pothole or if a valve fails, regardless of the type of inflation you choose!
